We desperately need to admit that petroleum is a sunset industry, and implement for other sources of energy.
We know both what to do and how to do it, while making the sources of energy 100 percent renewable, but thanks to incessant propaganda from Exxon and other oil producers, we refuse.
Our rulers are desperate to keep petroleum in the top spot. How desperate are they? Enough to do this to the earth.
Yesterday the government of British Columbia refused to consider permitting a west coast pipeline to carry the produce of the Alberta tar sands.
They simply refused, and said "No." See how easy that is for a government to do? Of course, it has to be a government composed of something other than lunatics and arrested development cases.

Indeed, using the Tar Sands as an oil source is a bad idea.
